KATHMANDU: Protesters from the Gen Z movement attempted to damage the private residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Damak, Jhapa.

According to Damak police, the demonstrators, who were marching with a rally, engaged in vandalism and arson at the municipality before heading toward the Prime Minister’s house, where they reportedly hurled stones.

“Protesters vandalized the municipality and then moved toward the Prime Minister’s residence, throwing stones at the house,” a police official said.

As the situation grew tense, police fired two rounds of warning shots to control the crowd.

Security has been tightened in the Damak area, and additional forces have been deployed amid concerns of further clashes.
