KATHMANDU: Portugal and Congo played out a 1-1 draw in their FIFA World Cup Group L encounter on Wednesday at Houston Stadium in the United States.
Portugal made a bright start and took the lead in the sixth minute through João Neves, who found the back of the net to give his side an early advantage.
The Portuguese team dominated possession for much of the first half and appeared on course to take their lead into the break.
However, Congo struck back in the final moments of first-half stoppage time when Yoane Wissa headed home from a corner kick, leveling the score at 1-1.
Despite both teams creating opportunities after the interval, neither side was able to find a winning goal in the second half.
The match ultimately ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with both teams earning a point from the Group L contest.
