One killed, another critically injured in accident

KATHMANDU: One person was killed and another critically injured in a road accident that occurred in the Balaju area of the capital on Wednesday night.

The accident took place at around 10:30 pm near the Baisdhara Gate in Balaju, when a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle, police said.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the truck bearing registration number Bagmati Province 01-006 Kha 3454 hit the motorcycle at high speed.

Both riders were thrown onto the road due to the impact.

One of the injured motorcyclists died during treatment, police confirmed.

The identities of the deceased and the injured are yet to be established.

The other victim, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

A team from the Balaju Police Circle reached the scene immediately after the incident and took the truck involved into custody.

Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
