KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police has issued a public advisory as air pollution levels rise to alarming levels in Kathmandu and other major cities.

Central Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Avi Narayan Kafle, urged citizens to prioritize their health and take precautionary measures.

The advisory recommends staying indoors unless necessary, reducing vehicle use by carpooling, avoiding open burning of waste, and minimizing outdoor activities during high pollution periods.

Special caution is advised for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.

The police emphasized the mandatory use of masks and urged anyone experiencing breathing difficulties to seek immediate medical attention at nearby hospitals or health centers.

Meteorological changes have contributed to the surge in pollution, particularly affecting urban areas, prompting both the police and the Ministry of Health to call for increased vigilance.
