KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Gokul Baskota has raised concerns over the delay in the constitution amendment process.

Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Baskota acknowledged that the current government has taken some positive steps but expressed dissatisfaction over its inaction on constitutional reform.

He cautioned that the narrative portraying political parties as ineffective is being used to weaken the democratic system and urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant.

Baskota further stated that the government is facing public criticism for failing to implement its commitment to amend the constitution.

Emphasizing the need to strengthen and energize democratic practices, he called on all political forces to act responsibly and with seriousness.

He also accused new political parties of indulging in populism and warned against weakening the system through parliamentary boycotts.

Instead, he urged all parties to play a constructive role in reinforcing democratic governance.
