KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the five-day India AI Impact Expo 2026 at a major exhibition center in the capital today.

The event saw participation from 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and over 500 global AI leaders, highlighting India’s growing role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

The official theme of the expo revolves around three pillars: People, Planet, and Progress. Seven thematic working groups are driving the agenda, covering critical topics such as economic growth, social welfare, democratization of resources, and safe AI deployment.

Special pavilions have been set up by 13 countries, including Australia, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy.

Additionally, over 600 high-capacity startups are showcasing international collaboration in AI, demonstrating cutting-edge innovations and solutions.

The expo is expected to serve as a platform for policy discussions, global partnerships, and technology showcases, reinforcing India’s position as a hub for AI-driven progress and sustainable development.
