Mahesh Basnet wrote after his defeat: “Victory & defeat are natural aspects”

KATHMANDU: UML leader Mahesh Basnet, who lost the House of Representatives election, has stated that he is prepared to lose but will not give up.

He expressed his disappointment on social media after running for Bhaktapur-2 and losing to Congress leader Durlav Thapa from the power alliance.

‘Elections are a beautiful aspect and practice of democracy,’ Basnet wrote, adding, ‘Victory and defeat are natural aspects.’

Basnet expressed his gratitude to the voters and supporters who voted for him on Facebook, writing, ‘We are ready to lose but we never give up.’

He also congratulated and wished the newly elected member of Bhaktapur’s 2nd House of Representatives success.
