KMC orders 8 cooperatives to vacate in 7 days
In a public notice released on Tuesday, the metropolis directed the cooperatives to immediately empty the rented premises they are currently using.
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a final seven-day ultimatum to eight cooperative institutions that have failed to implement decisions made by its Judicial Committee, ordering them to vacate the houses and rooms they are occupying.
In a public notice released, the metropolis directed the cooperatives to immediately empty the rented premises they are currently using.
The order follows verdicts issued by the Judicial Committee and a decision taken by the Decision Implementation Committee during its meeting on Magh 15.
According to the notice, office bearers, members of the board of directors, audit supervision committee members, employees, and general members of the listed cooperatives have been instructed to contact the Metropolitan City’s Law and Human Rights Department within seven days.
The metropolis has warned that if the responsible officials fail to make contact within the stipulated timeframe, it will itself enforce the Judicial Committee’s decision and vacate the premises accordingly.
The notice further states that during the eviction process, office furniture, documents, and other materials found inside the cooperative offices will be handed over to the respective property owners.
The metropolitan authority has also made it clear that it will not entertain any future claims, objections, or complaints regarding such materials or assets.
Sources indicate that the Judicial Committee ordered the eviction after receiving complaints that the cooperatives had either failed to pay rent for a long period or violated rental agreements.
