KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Hospital has inaugurated its treatment services in Duwakot, expanding its reach to tackle complex medical conditions.

The new branch was officially opened on Sunday by hospital director Dr. Sunil Sharma, a former member of the House of Representatives. Dr. Sharma highlighted that the hospital aims to save patients suffering from critical illnesses such as heart attacks and strokes.

“This is not an ordinary hospital; it is a super-specialty facility. Treatments that were previously available only in a few limited hospitals within Ring Road, Kathmandu, are now accessible here in Duwakot,” Dr. Sharma said.

Equipped with state-of-the-art machines, the hospital offers advanced treatment for heart, kidney, and brain disorders.

Dr. Sharma also confirmed provisions for free medicines and care for the underprivileged.

He added, “Procedures like treating brain strokes or blocked head arteries without open surgery—using wires and balloons through arm or leg arteries—were previously impossible in Nepal. We have now made it possible here.”
