KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has directed all hospitals to ensure that outpatient department (OPD) services remain operational on Sundays after the government’s decision to introduce a two-day weekly public holiday.
In a statement issued by the MoHP, hospitals have been instructed to manage OPD services based on workload and available staff, ensuring uninterrupted patient care following reports that Sunday closures had affected service delivery.

The ministry further stated that employees should be granted two days of weekly leave, excluding Saturdays, and where this is not possible, compensatory leave arrangements must be implemented. The directive also applies to provincial and regional hospitals across the country.
