Govt hospitals to follow Saturday–Sunday holiday

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal has decided to implement a two-day weekly public holiday (Saturday and Sunday) in government hospitals in line with the government’s recent notification published in the Gazette.
According to ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the new arrangement has been introduced to align with the national two-day weekend policy while also considering the well-being and morale of health workers.
He clarified that although regular services will follow the revised schedule, emergency and inpatient care services will continue round the clock.
Elective surgeries and other pre-scheduled treatments will be rescheduled as needed, while hospitals have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted emergency response and keep ambulances on standby at all times.
The ministry has also urged hospitals to facilitate smooth referral services for patients requiring care at nearby facilities.
Hospitals have been directed to publish details of available services during holidays on notice boards and official websites to ensure public awareness and minimize inconvenience.
