Ghana edge Panama 1-0

KATHMANDU: Ghana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama in a FIFA World Cup Group L match played at Toronto Stadium, Canada, on Thursday.

Caleb Yirenkyi emerged as the hero for Ghana, scoring the decisive goal deep into second-half stoppage time to seal all three points for his side.

The late strike proved to be the difference in a closely contested encounter, handing Ghana a winning start to their Group L campaign.

With the victory, Ghana moved to second place in the group with three points.

England, who also have three points but hold the top spot, lead the standings. Panama and Croatia remain without a point in third and fourth place, respectively.
