KATHMANDU: The 11th National Convention of the CPN-UML has elected a new party leadership, with KP Sharma Oli securing a third consecutive term as party chairman.

Oli won decisively with 1,663 votes, defeating his rival Ishwar Pokhrel, who received 564 votes.

The deputy chairman positions were won by Prithvi Subba Gurung (1,737 votes), Bishnu Prasad Paudel (1,675 votes), Rambahadur Thapa (1,516 votes), Gokarna Raj Bista (1,368 votes), and Raghuji Panta (1,258 votes).

Shankar Pokhrel was elected as general secretary, defeating Surendra Pande with 1,228 votes to Pande’s 999.

The deputy general secretary posts went to Lekhraj Bhatt (1,452 votes), Raghubir Mahaseth (1,368 votes), and Yogesh Bhattarai (1,348 votes).

For the secretary positions, Mahesh Basnet topped with 1,544 votes, followed by Padmakumari Aryal (1,530), Chhabilal Bishwakarma (1,506), Sherdhan Rai (1,503), Hikmat Kumar Karki (1,337), Khagraj Adhikari (1,331), Yamlal Kandel (1,185), Rajan Bhattarai (1,181), and Bhanubhakta Dhakal (1,108).

Several leaders close to Oli were also elected as central committee members, consolidating his influence in the party.
