KATHMANDU: A drone crashed on Saturday in the coastal city of Samsun, located on Turkey’s Black Sea region, causing damage to two buildings but resulting in no injuries, according to the Turkish newspaper Sözcü.

The incident occurred in the Kazım Karabekir neighborhood of the İlkadım district.

Following the crash, police, fire, and medical teams were immediately deployed to the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the crashed object was an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approximately one meter in length, featuring wings and a tail section.

Authorities have yet to determine who operated the drone or its intended purpose, and a high-alert investigation is currently underway.

Turkey has recently strengthened its drone surveillance and air defense systems in the Black Sea region amid ongoing security concerns linked to the Russia–Ukraine conflict.

The Turkish military has also intensified air and maritime patrols, maintaining close monitoring of unauthorized aerial activity over the Black Sea.
