KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Medical College Pvt. Ltd., Duwakot (Bhaktapur), has announced the provision of full and partial discount treatment services targeting economically disadvantaged citizens.

According to a notice issued by former Member of Parliament Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma, priority will be given to financially weak patients from Morang and various remote districts across the country under this initiative.

Patients from districts including Humla, Jumla, Dolpa, Mugu, Kalikot, Rolpa, Rukum, and Salyan, as well as those from Koshi Province—such as Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Tehrathum, and Taplejung—will be eligible for full or partial treatment discounts at the Super Specialty Hospital operated by Kathmandu Medical College in Duwakot based on financial assessment.

Similarly, needy patients from Dolakha, Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha will also be able to access the facility.

Eligible individuals must submit a recommendation letter from their respective ward or local municipal office along with required documents as per Schedule-2 to receive the service at the hospital.

Dr. Sharma stated that this is the first phase of the program, which will be expanded further in the coming days.

He said the initiative aims to eliminate situations where patients are deprived of treatment due to financial hardship.

Known for his humanitarian contributions, Dr. Sharma—who is also a former Member of Parliament—has previously been recognized for refusing salary and allowances during his tenure.

He has been actively involved in social and health services, including free treatment of critically ill patients, nationwide health camps, assistance in treating injured individuals, and donation of ambulances.
