KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals, already out of the playoff race, signed off the IPL 2025 season with a stunning 6-wicket win over Punjab Kings, dashing Punjab’s hopes of finishing atop the points table.

The match, played on Saturday night, saw Delhi chase down a daunting target of 207 with just three balls to spare.

With this loss, Punjab missed their chance to claim the No. 1 position, allowing Gujarat Titans to retain the top spot with 18 points.

Punjab settled for second place with 17 points, while Delhi finished the season with a respectable 15 points.

Samir Rizvi Stars in Record Chase

Delhi’s chase was powered by a sensational knock from Samir Rizvi, who remained unbeaten on 58 off just 25 balls, smashing three fours and five sixes. Karun Nair provided crucial support with 42 off 27 deliveries. Among Delhi’s bowlers, Harpreet Brar impressed with two key wickets.

Punjab Post Massive Total But Fall Short

Batting first after losing the toss, Punjab Kings posted a strong total of 206/8. Marcus Stoinis led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 44 off 16 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries. Skipper Shreyas Iyer added 53 from 34 balls, while Josh Inglis chipped in with a quickfire 32 off 12.

Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of Delhi’s bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets apiece to help restrict Punjab in the final overs.
