Citizen Life Insurance conducts 2nd phase of AML/CFT training in Lumbini Province

KATHMANDU: Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited has conducted the second phase of its training program on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) for the fiscal year 2081/82.

The first phase of the training was completed in Koshi Province, while the second phase took place in Lumbini Province, the company said.

The training was organized on Kartik 14 at Tiger Palace by Soaltee in Bhairahawa, where a total of 225 participants, including agents, branch managers, and staff members from various branches across the country, took part. The session was facilitated by the company’s Training Department Head, Mr. Kuber Pathak.

The training covered legal provisions related to AML/CFT, its implications in the insurance sector, and necessary policy and practical measures to be adopted at the operational level.

Discussions also included how illegal earnings and funds linked to terrorist activities could be disguised as legitimate income through insurance, along with prevention mechanisms and reporting procedures.

According to the company, the main objective of the training is to enhance awareness and competence among agents, branch managers, and employees in preventing financial crimes, curbing terrorist financing, and promoting transparent business practices.
