At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Everton 2–0 to register their first league win in four matches.
Cole Palmer opened the scoring in the 21st minute, marking his first Premier League goal since September after returning from a long-term injury. Malo Gusto, who assisted Palmer’s goal, doubled Chelsea’s lead with a strike just before halftime in the 45th minute.
Everton created a few chances to equalise in the first half but failed to capitalise. They pushed for a comeback after the break, yet could not find the net. Late in the match, Iliman Ndiaye came close when his shot struck the post.
With the victory, Chelsea moved up to fourth place in the league standings, four points ahead of Everton, who dropped to eighth.
Liverpool’s Anfield Success
Liverpool also enjoyed a successful outing, beating Brighton and Hove Albion 2–0 at Anfield, thanks to a brace from Hugo Ekitike. Mohamed Salah, returning to action, provided an assist in the match.
Ekitike gave Liverpool an early lead just 46 seconds into the game, the fastest goal of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Salah, who did not feature in Tuesday’s Champions League match, came on as a substitute in the 26th minute after Joe Gomez was forced off through injury. From a corner delivered by Salah, Ekitike headed home his second goal in the 60th minute.
Brighton had several opportunities but were unable to score, while Salah missed a late chance to add to Liverpool’s tally.
The win lifted Liverpool to sixth place in the table with 26 points, three points and three places above Brighton.
