APF officer Ghimire dies during Nepal–India border meeting

KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) Superintendent Rajesh Ghimire passed away on Friday after collapsing during a high-level coordination meeting between Nepal and India’s border security agencies in Morang district.
The incident occurred at Biratchok while a DIG-level bilateral coordination meeting between Nepal’s Armed Police Force and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) was underway.
The meeting was focused on border security management and other issues of mutual concern when Superintendent Ghimire suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed.
He was immediately rushed to Birat Medical College for emergency treatment.

Deputy Inspector General Kumar Neupane of APF No. 1 Baraha Battalion, Pakali, Sunsari, confirmed Superintendent Ghimire’s death.
According to attending doctors, Superintendent Ghimire suffered from severe hypertension.
He also sustained an injury to his tongue when he collapsed, indicating the sudden and critical nature of the medical emergency.
His condition deteriorated rapidly after being admitted to the hospital, and medical intervention proved unsuccessful.
Superintendent Ghimire was widely regarded as a capable, disciplined, and duty-bound officer within the Armed Police Force.
