8 killed in Iran traffic accident

AGENCY: DEC. 7 – According to the official IRNA news agency, at least eight persons were killed and 16 others were injured when a passenger bus and trailer collided on the Kashan-Qom motorway in central Iran on Tuesday.

The tragedy occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to Mansour Miraboutalebi, chairman of the Kashan Red Crescent Society.

The reason of the mishap was not disclosed by the official.

According to official data, more than 20,000 people are killed and 200,000 are wounded in road accidents in Iran each year. These incidents are blamed on inexperienced drivers and inefficient vehicles and roads.
