ANKARA: NOV. 19 – An explosion early Friday in a three-storey apartment in Turkey’s capital Ankara has left two people dead and four others injured, a local official said.

“Unfortunately, we received information that the father and young child of an Iraqi Turkmen family had died,” Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin told reporters.

The blast destroyed part of the building in the Kecioren district. Two Turkish citizens, an Iraqi Turkmen family and an Afghan family were living in the apartment and the Afghan family was not at home during the incident, the governor said.

Noting that both natural gas and liquid petroleum gas are used in the building, the governor said the cause of the explosion has not been determined yet.
