KATHMANDU: A total of 150 patients received consultation and treatment services at a four-day free burn treatment camp organized at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.

The “Nabil Free Burn Treatment Camp” was jointly organized by Narayani Hospital and Nabil Bank with technical support from FACT Nepal, held from April 17 to 20.

According to the bank, 46 patients underwent surgeries performed by senior specialist doctors during the camp.

Among them, six patients with complex conditions were referred to Kirtipur Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment.

Prior to the main camp, screening camps were conducted in 27 local levels across six districts of Madhesh Province, where FACT Nepal health workers collected preliminary patient data by reaching communities at the local level.

Nabil Bank stated that it has been providing free treatment and consultation for burn victims in remote areas through specialist doctors based in Kathmandu as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Nepal still has many burn victims who are unable to access proper treatment. Through this CSR initiative, we aimed to support patients in remote areas of Madhesh Province,” said Manoj Kumar Gnyawali, Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank.

A similar series of camps will be held in Lumbini Province from May 8 to 11.

The medical team included senior plastic surgeon Dr. Shankarman Rai from Kirtipur Hospital along with experts from FACT Nepal, who carried out surgeries and treatment services during the camp.

“We came here with two objectives—providing free treatment to burn patients and strengthening the capacity of Narayani Hospital.

The four-day camp exceeded our expectations in terms of service delivery,” said Dr. Rai, adding that burn treatment services should ideally be available at Narayani Hospital in the future.

Acting Medical Superintendent of Narayani Hospital, Dr. Chitranjan Shah, said the camp brought relief to patients who had been living with disability and discomfort for years due to burn injuries.

Earlier, Nabil Bank had also organized similar free burn camps in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. In Sudurpaschim, 65 patients received services, while in Karnali, 194 patients benefited from the program.

Nabil Bank, one of Nepal’s leading commercial banks, continues to implement various social initiatives aimed at creating positive societal impact under its corporate social responsibility framework.
