KATHMANDU: A small aircraft crashed in the Norte de Santander province in northern Colombia on Wednesday morning, killing all 15 people on board.

Authorities confirmed that everyone aboard the Satena Airlines flight HK 4709, including 13 passengers and two crew members, died in the accident.

The government-operated plane had taken off from Cúcuta en route to Ocaña at 11:42 a.m. local time. It went down in a mountainous area before reaching its destination. The Ocaña region is known for its remote and rugged terrain, which complicated rescue operations.

Emergency teams were immediately deployed, but officials reported that no survivors were found due to the severity of the crash and the difficult terrain.

The exact cause of the crash is not yet known, and investigators have been dispatched to the site.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the region’s challenging mountainous landscape may have contributed to the crash.
