US deports 80 Nepali nationals
Police have launched necessary investigations following their return.
KATHMANDU: The United States has deported 80 Nepali nationals, who were flown back to Nepal and arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Tuesday at around 5:30 pm.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Krishna Pangeni, chief of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, one of the deported individuals is a woman.
Police have launched necessary investigations following their return.
Preliminary findings reveal that most of the deported Nepalis had attempted to enter the US through illegal and unsafe routes.
One individual had traveled on a student visa, while others reportedly used various brokers, spending millions of rupees in the process.
Some deportees claimed they spent as much as Rs 14 million to reach the United States.
Police said further investigations are underway, linking the case to human trafficking and illegal migration networks.
