KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has convened its first secretariat meeting following the 11th National Congress. The session began at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

The main agenda is finalizing the proportional representation candidate list for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

According to party sources, the meeting is prioritizing this as the Election Commission has set today as the deadline for submitting the candidate list.

A shortlist has been prepared based on recommendations from district and provincial levels, and the final list is expected to be approved in today’s meeting before submission to the Election Commission.

Other topics on the agenda include party office management, the current political situation, and a briefing on discussions between party Chair KP Sharma Oli and the Prime Minister.

As the first secretariat meeting under the newly elected leadership, it is being viewed with special significance.
