KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi has stated that the ongoing visit visa scandal is not the concern of any single political party but a grave national issue demanding unified action.

Addressing the House of Representatives on Friday, Shahi expressed deep concern over the large-scale trafficking of Nepali citizens abroad under the guise of visit visas, leaving thousands stranded and vulnerable.

He called upon all political parties to unite against human trafficking and take collective responsibility.

Shahi demanded the immediate formation of a parliamentary investigation committee and stressed that the probe must include all 14 Home Ministers who have held office since 2007, not just the current Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

“This is not a partisan issue. The visit visa scandal is a collective crisis that requires a unified national response,” Shahi emphasized, warning that protests would continue until a parliamentary inquiry committee is established.

He further cautioned that any attempt to forcefully proceed with parliamentary sessions while the opposition’s concerns remain unaddressed would lead to a boycott of proceedings. Shahi also urged the Speaker to uphold the dignity of Parliament and foster a culture of consensus.
