Rural Chair resigns over viral foot massage
The executive meeting of the rural municipality held on Tuesday endorsed his resignation, according to Vice-Chair Kalpana Chaudhary.
KATHMANDU: Agnisair Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality Chairperson Dinanath Chaudhary has resigned from his post following a controversy over a viral video.
In the video, Chaudhary was seen lying on a sofa while a ward chairperson massaged his feet.
Chaudhary’s resignation has already been approved.
The executive meeting of the rural municipality held on Tuesday endorsed his resignation, according to Vice-Chair Kalpana Chaudhary.
In his resignation letter addressed to the vice-chairperson, Chaudhary stated that he was unable to continue in the position due to various reasons. “I, Dinanath Chaudhary, have been serving as the Chairperson of Agnisair Krishnasavaran Rural Municipality. However, due to certain circumstances, I am unable to continue working in this position,” the letter reads.
The incident gained widespread attention after the massage video circulated on social media, drawing public criticism and pushing Chaudhary into controversy.
Chaudhary was elected from the CPN-UML, while Vice-Chairperson Kalpana Chaudhary was elected from the Nepali Congress.
