RSP–Balen alliance is a normal democratic practice: Yogesh Bhattarai
Bhattarai stated that political forces naturally come together when their agendas align and separate when they do not, describing this as a normal aspect of a democratic system.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has said that the alliance between the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah should not be viewed negatively.
Speaking on the issue, Bhattarai stated that political forces naturally come together when their agendas align and separate when they do not, describing this as a normal aspect of a democratic system.
He said alliances and splits among political parties should not be seen as unusual in a democratic process.
According to him, the RSP and Mayor Shah have announced their unity with an eye on the upcoming elections.
Bhattarai emphasized the need to achieve political superiority through healthy competition in order to make Nepal’s democratic process transparent and clean, bring the fragmented constitutional process back on track, and advance sustainable development through lasting peace.
He said the CPN-UML is fully prepared to move forward with these objectives.
He also alleged that the RSP and Mayor Shah attempted to “hijack” the Gen Z movement that emerged in Bhadau for vested political interests, despite its originally noble intentions. Bhattarai urged leaders of the Gen Z movement to remain cautious.
The UML deputy general secretary further said that the party is preparing to secure a majority in the upcoming elections.
Noting what he described as attacks on the party from multiple fronts, he called on party chair KP Sharma Oli to further strengthen internal unity.
He stressed that setting aside internal differences and standing united is essential for effective election preparations.
