KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has proposed forging a new understanding among all political forces to move the country forward.

The decision was taken during the party’s Central Executive Committee meeting held Thursday at its Dhumbarai headquarters.

Speaking to reporters afterward, RPP Chair Rajendra Prasad Lingden stressed the need for a national consensus that ensures no one can instigate conflict or feel neglected in the country.

He criticized the parliament’s inability to address the nation’s major problems, stating that reinstating it would only push the country back into conflict.

Lingden also called the recent Gen Z uprising a historic generational shift and said the party would carefully formulate its stance based on the interim government’s actions.

The RPP demanded accountability for those involved in corruption and alleged atrocities during the Gen Z movement, warning that merely changing the government would not honor the sacrifices of the youth.

Lingden further indicated a strong possibility of reinstating the monarchy, clarifying that the Gen Z movement was against corruption and maladministration, not aimed at restoring the king. He argued that a constitutional monarchy is essential for long-term stability, prosperity, and protection from foreign interference, and expressed confidence that the Nepali people will eventually support its reinstatement in a caretaker capacity.

The chair also revealed that RPP lawmakers would resign from provincial assemblies, calling for their dissolution, and emphasized that the movement’s goal is system reform in line with the Gen Z movement’s aspirations, rather than just government change.
