Opposition continues Parliament obstruction
The protest centers around recent controversial remarks made by Prime Minister Balen Shah regarding the Nepal–India border issue.
KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives remained obstructed on Tuesday as opposition parties continued their protest inside Parliament.
During the ongoing session, lawmakers from opposition parties stood up and chanted slogans, disrupting the proceedings and preventing the House from moving forward.
The protest centers around recent controversial remarks made by Prime Minister Balen Shah regarding the Nepal–India border issue.
Opposition parties, including the main opposition, have demanded that the Prime Minister withdraw his statement, calling it inappropriate and sensitive for diplomatic relations.
Despite attempts to proceed with the agenda, the continuous uproar forced repeated interruptions in the session, leaving parliamentary work stalled.
Lawmakers from opposition benches have maintained that the issue must be addressed formally before the House can resume normal business, while the government side has yet to issue a revised response.
