KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a modest gain on Monday, rising by 7.73 points to close at 2,796.43 points.

During the trading session, shares of 351 companies were bought and sold 81,616 times, with a total turnover of Rs 4.74 billion.

Sector-wise, mixed performance was recorded.

Hydropower fell by 0.19 percent, investment by 0.28 percent, mutual funds by 0.07 percent, trading by 1.39 percent, and the “others” group by 0.44 percent. However, most other sectors posted gains.

Banking rose by 0.68 percent, development banks by 1.14 percent, finance by 0.44 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.97 percent, life insurance by 0.13 percent, production and processing by 1.52 percent, microfinance by 0.29 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.15 percent.

In today’s trading, Corporate Development Bank, Palpa Cement Industries, and Shikhar Power Development saw their share prices hit a positive circuit limit.

On the other hand, NIFRA Green Energy Debenture declined the most, falling by 14.01 percent.
