NC replaces Khatiwada with Luitel in Okhaldhunga
The move comes as the party, under the leadership of newly elected president Gagan Thapa, begins issuing election tickets with his endorsement.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has decided to introduce a new candidate in Okhaldhunga for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The party’s parliamentary board on Monday confirmed that Kumar Luintel will replace the influential former MP Ramhari Khatiwada, who previously represented the constituency.
The move comes as the party, under the leadership of newly elected president Gagan Thapa, begins issuing election tickets with his endorsement.
Although the district committee had recommended Khatiwada for re-election, the parliamentary board opted in favor of Luitel at the last moment.
Khatiwada, who secured a significant victory in the previous election and maintained a strong presence in parliament, will now step aside, making way for Luintel—a decision that has sparked widespread discussion in political circles.
