Kharel who quits ministerial post joins RSP to contest Lalitpur-2
Kharel is confirmed to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election from Lalitpur Constituency No. 2.
KATHMANDU: Jagdish Kharel, who resigned from his post as Communications Minister on Monday, is set to formally join the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in a special program on Tuesday at 11 AM.
According to RSP leader Ganesh Parajuli, the event has been organized to welcome Kharel to the party and provide details about his candidacy.
Kharel is confirmed to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election from Lalitpur Constituency No. 2.
Until now, Kharel had remained silent on whether he would enter the election, choosing to resign from his ministerial position just a day before filing his nomination.
Following the ‘Janaji’ movement on September 8 & 9, ministers from the current government, formed to oversee the country’s elections, have been resigning one after another to join the electoral race.
In the same wave, Education Minister Mahavir Pun also resigned from his position on Tuesday.
