KC urges PM Shah to study history, withdraw remarks
KC stressed that if questions are raised about the Prime Minister’s remarks, responses should come directly from him rather than through representatives.
KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Arjun Narsingh KC, has advised Prime Minister Balen Shah to study history before making public remarks, following the Prime Minister’s recent social media post suggesting that many of Nepal’s current problems are only 35 years old.
Speaking to journalists at the Federal Parliament premises on Tuesday, KC expressed strong objection to the Prime Minister’s statement and said such issues should not be addressed through “intermediaries.”
KC stressed that if questions are raised about the Prime Minister’s remarks, responses should come directly from him rather than through representatives.
He added that the Prime Minister should correct or withdraw any misleading statements and clarify his intent himself.
“If there is a question raised about the Prime Minister, it cannot be answered by sending a proxy. He should either correct his statement or clarify his intention himself,” KC said.
He also criticized the claim that Nepal’s problems are only 35 years old, calling it historically inaccurate and urging the Prime Minister to “study history properly” before making such comments.
KC further stated that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament and called for immediate efforts to resume parliamentary proceedings.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tension after controversial statements by Prime Minister Balen Shah, with opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, demanding clarification and accountability.
Arjun Narsingh KC criticized the communication approach and insisted that the Prime Minister should personally address the concerns raised in Parliament.
Rabi Lamichhane also commented on aspects of the debate, reflecting broader political disagreement over the issue.
