IME Group to launch Chisapani Jalpa Devi Cable Car within two months
The company stated that construction work has reached its final stage and expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the scheduled timeframe.
KATHMANDU: The IME Group has announced that its Jalpa Devi Cable Car project, being constructed in Chisapani of Kailali district, is expected to come into operation within the next two months.
The company stated that construction work has reached its final stage and expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the scheduled timeframe.
Former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Chair of Jalpa Devi Cable Car Pvt. Ltd., Chandra Prasad Dhakal, said that the private sector has consistently demonstrated its capacity to complete projects on time, within budget, and with quality standards.
“The private sector has a proven track record of completing projects within the stipulated time, budget, and quality,” Dhakal said. “We began construction of this Jalpa Devi Cable Car project about 11 months ago. We are now preparing to bring it into operation within the scheduled timeframe.”
The IME Group is constructing a 3.1-kilometre-long cable car line connecting Chisapani in Lamki Chuha Municipality–3 with Rajkanda in Mohanyal Rural Municipality–7 of Kailali district.
The project involves an investment of approximately Rs 5 billion.

According to the company, the bottom station will include infrastructure such as a hotel, casino, banquet hall, and other facilities, while the top station will feature a resort, temple, sky walk, walking trails, restaurants, and a children’s park to promote tourism.
Dhakal emphasized that Nepal cannot achieve meaningful economic transformation without expanding investment in tourism infrastructure. He stated that tourism has the potential to bring significant changes in Nepal’s economic, cultural, and social sectors.
He further noted that expanding tourism infrastructure can help extend tourists’ length of stay, increase foreign currency earnings, generate employment, and boost government revenue.
Highlighting his long-term vision, Dhakal said he aims to develop a cable car-based tourism circuit, and described the Jalpa Devi Cable Car as an important step toward that goal.
He also acknowledged the support received from local communities, political parties, and government agencies as a key factor in the progress of the project.
Located near the Karnali Chisapani Bridge—an important tourist hub across Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces—the project is about a two-hour drive from the Indian border.
The company believes this proximity will make it an attractive destination for Indian tourists visiting the Karnali Chisapani area.
