Gulmi election buzz: Dhakal’s unconventional campaign
Instead of focusing solely on his own constituency, Dhakal has been spotted campaigning in the neighboring Constituency 2, joining hands with RSP candidate Govinda Panthi.
KATHMANDU: As the House of Representatives election approaches, political activity in Gulmi has reached new heights.
Amid this surge, Sagar Dhakal, the Rastriya Swatantra Party – RSP candidate for Gulmi Constituency 1, has emerged as a topic of local discussion for his unconventional campaign style.
Instead of focusing solely on his own constituency, Dhakal has been spotted campaigning in the neighboring Constituency 2, joining hands with RSP candidate Govinda Panthi.
Together, they are visiting voters’ homes, drawing attention for this joint-door-to-door approach, which many see as a fresh experiment in political collaboration.
This election is shaping up to be a lively contest between seasoned politicians and new entrants.
In Constituency 1, Dhakal faces influential leaders including Pradeep Gyawali of CPN-UML, Dr. Chandra Bhandari of Nepali Congress, and Sudarshan Baral of CPN.
Meanwhile, in Constituency 2, Panthi will compete against veteran leaders Gokarna Bista (UML), Bhuvan Prasad Shrestha (Congress), and Shriram Mahat (CPN).
Highlighting transparency and challenging the culture of extravagant campaigning, Dhakal has begun publicly sharing his daily campaign expenses.
Recently, he disclosed that a four-member team spent just Rs 2,625 while campaigning in Malika Rural Municipality, a move that has drawn praise on social media.
