KATHMANDU: Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a convincing four-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Ahmedabad.
Batting first, RCB were bowled out for 155 runs despite a brisk start.
Virat Kohli looked in fine touch, smashing four consecutive boundaries in an over off Kagiso Rabada, but fell for 28 off just 13 balls while attempting another big shot.
After early setbacks, Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar stitched a 44-run stand. Padikkal top-scored with a composed 40 off 24 deliveries, but regular wickets kept RCB under pressure, eventually leading to their collapse.
Jason Holder delivered a standout all-round performance, playing a direct role in five dismissals, including key catches. Arshad Khan claimed three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Holder picked up two each.
Chasing 156, Gujarat came out aggressively. Shubman Gill set the tone with a blistering 43 off 18 balls, including a 24-run over against Josh Hazlewood. Jos Buttler continued the momentum with a quickfire 39 from 19 balls.
RCB attempted a comeback through Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who removed Gill, Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan, while Romario Shepherd struck twice in one over to raise hopes.
However, calm finishing from Holder and Rahul Tewatia sealed the win. Tewatia remained unbeaten on 27 off 17 balls as Gujarat chased down the target with 25 balls to spare, clinching a crucial victory.
