Dalit abuse case: Siraha court grants bail to Yadavs
The two individuals, currently in police custody, will be allowed to fight the case while being out on bail.

KATHMANDU: In an incident in Siraha’s Aurahi Rural Municipality-5, the District Court has ordered the release of the municipality chairperson and former ward chairperson on bail following accusations of caste-based discrimination.
On Friday, the Siraha District Court, under Judge Bidur Kafle, ordered the release of Municipality Chairperson Shivji Yadav and former Ward Chairperson Dilip Yadav by taking a bail of Rs 100,000 each.
The two individuals, currently in police custody, will be allowed to fight the case while being out on bail.
This case stems from an incident that occurred on Feb 22, when a local’s house, belonging to Deepak Mallik, was destroyed under the pretext of a religious ceremony.
The house was reportedly demolished by a bulldozer under the direction of the chairperson, former ward chairperson, and a person named Bajrangi Baba.
After the destruction, the soil from the land was also removed, which has been strongly condemned as an act of caste discrimination.
Protests have erupted against the incident, which is seen as a clear case of untouchability and social injustice.
