KATHMANDU: A meeting of the four-party socialist alliance, led by the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), is scheduled to take place today.

The alliance includes the Maoist Centre, the CPN (Unified Socialist), the CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, and the Nepal Socialist Party (NSP).

The meeting will be held at the Unified Socialist Party’s office in Aloknagar, Kathmandu, at 3 p.m.

According to NSP co-chair Ganganarayan Shrestha, the meeting has been called to prepare for the planned protest rally in Kathmandu on March 28.

The rally was originally scheduled for March 22 in Janakpur but was postponed in order to ensure a more effective protest in Kathmandu.

In addition to the protest preparation, the alliance will hold a discussion with intellectuals in the morning of March 15 and a press conference at 1 p.m. on the same day.

At the previous meeting on March 11, the alliance decided to hold a protest rally in Kathmandu to challenge regressive forces, particularly in light of royalist activities.

The decision to organize the rally came after royalist supporters gathered at Tribhuvan International Airport on March 9 to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah, which the alliance described as a direct challenge to the current government.

The alliance leaders have warned that they will mobilize thousands of citizens to the streets to defeat regressive and reactionary forces.

They have also accused the current ruling coalition of protecting corruption and middlemen, claiming that public frustration and dissatisfaction are on the rise.

Emphasizing the need to defend and strengthen the republic, alliance leaders asserted that the defeated forces from history are seeking opportunities to regain power.

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ reaffirmed his party’s commitment to safeguarding the federal democratic republic and announced their readiness to struggle alongside the people and progressive forces.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) is also set to announce its own program of protests today.

The party will focus on strengthening its organization and addressing the activities of regressive forces.

A special press conference will be held today, where the party will provide updates on the country’s political situation, with top leaders, including Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, expected to participate.
