Clash erupts between two factions of NSU at MMC

KATHMANDU: A violent clash broke out between two factions of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), affiliated with the Nepali Congress, at Mahendra Morang Campus on Thursday.

The dispute arose over ticket allocation for the upcoming Free Student Union (FSU) election, leading to a confrontation between the establishment faction and the Shekhar Koirala-led group.

During the clash, Morang district chair of the Shekhar-affiliated NSU, Saroj Pokharel, sustained injuries. Pokharel accused FSU Secretary Elish Thakuri, Prashant Yadav, and their group of assaulting him.

According to police, Pokharel is currently undergoing treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.
