KATHMANDU: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, has urged Nepali students who returned home to resume their regular classes, assuring that the university will bear all travel expenses.
In an official letter addressed to parents, the university stated that it would cover all costs for students traveling back from Nepal.
The letter, signed by Vice Chancellor Saranjit Singh, confirmed that regular classes had resumed as of Feb 18.
“All academic programs and processes at the university are fully operational. We request students to return as soon as possible,” the letter stated. “The university will cover all expenses for bus, train, or air travel.”
KIIT also reaffirmed its commitment to student safety, assuring parents that their children’s well-being remains a top priority. The university guaranteed that any missed classes or lab sessions would not affect students’ academics, careers, or job opportunities.
Additionally, KIIT clarified that no consent or signature from hostels or schools is required for students to return, urging students and parents to disregard misinformation from other sources.
Currently, over 3,000 international students from more than 65 countries are enrolled at KIIT. For any queries, parents and students can contact Dr. Vikas Samvat at +91-998736660720 or Dr. Mamata Dhital at +91-978550293220.
The university has repeatedly called for Nepali students to return following diplomatic efforts by the Nepalese government to manage tensions after the death of a Nepali student on campus.
