Govt to set up temporary coordination offices for earthquake reconstruction in west Nepal

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to establish temporary coordination offices of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) in Jajarkot, Achham, and Bajhang to assess earthquake damage and facilitate reconstruction efforts.

The decision was made during a meeting of the NDRRMA’s executive committee held at Singha Durbar on Thursday.

Following the meeting, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak informed journalists that the damage assessment of private houses affected by the Jajarkot-centered earthquake is progressing rapidly.

He also stated that the Detailed Damage Assessment (DDA) of the earthquakes centered in Doti and Bajhang has been completed, and reconstruction efforts have begun. For the remaining assessments, temporary coordination offices will be set up in Jajarkot, Achham, and Bajhang within this month.

The minister assured that post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts will move forward at an accelerated pace.
