KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of a Nepali student at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

In a press release issued on Feb 17, the Embassy extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

According to the statement, the Embassy is in close contact with KIIT authorities and the Odisha State Government.

It has been informed that local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, KIIT has urged Nepali students to return to campus, resume their classes, and stay in the hostels.

The institute has assured that any academic losses incurred by students will be addressed.

“Nepali students in India are a vital part of the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations. The Government of India remains committed to ensuring the well-being of Nepali students in India,” the Embassy stated.
