Woman injured in bus accident airlifted

KATHMANDU: A woman injured in a bus accident in Amkot, located on the Saafe–Martadi highway, was rescued by the Nepalese Army’s helicopter this morning.

Fifty-year-old Bishna Padhyaya, from Budhiganga Municipality-1, Amkot, was struck by a bus (license plate number Sudurpashchim Province 01-001 Kha 3688) while sitting near a roadside shop.

Padhyaya was initially treated at the District Hospital in Bajura, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted by the Nepalese Army’s helicopter to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for further care.

According to Santosh Rai, Acting Chief District Officer at the District Administration Office, the woman is pregnant, and there were concerns about potential blood clotting in her uterus, which led to her transfer to the hospital.

Rai also mentioned that the bus accident resulted in injuries to both the woman and her 8-year-old son, Nayan Padhyaya, who sadly passed away during treatment.
