KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling party’s chief whips has decided to accelerate the passage of pending bills in Parliament.

The decision was made during a meeting held at the CPN-UML parliamentary office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that discussions focused on expediting the legislative process.

He also confirmed that ordinances tabled in Parliament were part of the discussions.

Bartaula emphasized that this session aims to pass more bills compared to the last four sessions. He confirmed that the School Education Bill and the Federal Civil Service Bill would be given top priority. Ruling party chief whips have agreed to designate this session as a bill-passing session.

“We are prioritizing the School Education Bill and the Federal Civil Service Bill. Our goal is to accelerate the legislative process,” said Bartaula, who is also the Chief Whip of CPN-UML.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire echoed the sentiment, expressing concern over delays in the legislative process. He affirmed the commitment to speed up proceedings, stating, “The School Education Bill and the Federal Civil Service Bill must be passed in this session at any cost.”

The meeting also included discussions on ordinances, with plans to incorporate them into the agenda for upcoming sessions.
