Mother killed, son critical as truck hits auto in Makwanpur

KATHMANDU: A woman lost her life after a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw in Makwanpur on Friday evening.

The incident occurred at 7:50 PM in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11, Thanabaryang.

A truck (Na 4 Kha 2496) heading towards Chitwan crashed into an auto-rickshaw (Na 1 Ha 8308) coming from the opposite direction.

According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, 35-year-old Pooja Bamjan of Manahari Rural Municipality-6, Khairghari, who was traveling in the auto, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to CMC Churehill Hospital.

She succumbed to her injuries at 9:20 PM.

The auto driver, 25-year-old Raju Thing of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-19, suffered severe head injuries. Pooja’s 11-year-old son, Amrit Ghising, who was also in the auto, sustained moderate injuries.

Both are receiving treatment at CMC Churehill Hospital.

Police have taken the truck and the auto into custody along with the truck driver, 48-year-old Kanchha Rai of Rapti Municipality-2, Piple, Chitwan.

Further investigation is underway.
