KATHMANDU: Preparations for Maha Shivaratri are in full swing at Pashupatinath Temple. As part of the festivities, cleaning and other works are being carried out extensively.

The temple is also undergoing a makeover with painting and decoration to enhance its appearance. Intricate wall paintings of various gods and goddesses are being created throughout the temple area.

This year, it is anticipated that many saints from India’s ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj will also visit Pashupatinath.

Every year, on the day of Maha Shivaratri, which falls on the Feb 26, millions of devotees from Nepal and India gather at Pashupatinath for prayers and rituals.

According to the official Nepali calendar approved by the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Committee, this year, Maha Shivaratri will be observed on Wednesday, Feb 26.
