KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has begun laying granite on the footpath of Durbar Marg.
The project, initiated by the city, covers the area from the Narayanhiti Museum, in front of the Metropolitan Police Circle Darbar Marg, to Mahendra Statue on both sides of the footpath.
According to the Public Works Department, the pedestrian pathway will range from 3 meters to a maximum of 6 meters in width.
Before placing the granite, the base has been prepared by mixing gravel and soil for proper soling.
The trees in the middle of the footpath have been adorned with smooth granite, while the ground is paved with rough-textured granite that adds elegance to the footpath.
The construction contract has been awarded to Sadashiv Infra Pvt. Ltd. through a public procurement process.
The agreement was made in the 6th of Chaitra last year, with a deadline to complete the work by the end of Magh in the current fiscal year.
Hence, the work is progressing rapidly at present.
