KATHMANDU: The permanent committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) concluded that the party received encouraging support in the local level by-elections.

The meeting, held on Friday at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, concluded that the by-elections sent a message that the public is once again willing to support the Maoist Centre.

Party spokesperson Agniprasad Sapkota, while announcing the decisions of the permanent committee meeting, stated that the by-elections had disrupted the idea of the two major parties, Congress and UML, working together.

The party expressed concerns about the current government’s increasing interference, citing attempts by the Electricity Authority to obstruct trunk line revenue collection, pressure on university appointments, and broader interference in various bodies.

According to Sapkota, the party’s central committee meeting will be convened starting from Jan 5. Before that, permanent committee meetings will be held on Jan 1, 2, 3 & 4.

The meeting also decided to review the party’s shortcomings and to strengthen its relationship with the people, dedicating itself to the welfare of the public.
