KATHMANDU: Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has sustained an injury to his left thigh.
The club has not yet clarified the nature of the injury or how long he will be sidelined, but they have stated that his progress will be closely monitored.
Currently two points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, Real Madrid will play Rayo Vallecano on Sunday night.
Following that, they are preparing to play the Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar on Dec 18.
After their match against Sevilla on Dec 22, the club will take a short winter break, returning to action with a game against Valencia on Jan 3.
Mbappé was injured after scoring the opening goal in Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta in the Champions League.
The France captain netted in the first half of the match.
Since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Mbappé has scored 12 goals in 22 appearances, but has yet to deliver the expected performances against major rivals.
